Geophysics: Seismic Processing

5 October 2021

Reflection seismology is commonly recognized as one of the most powerful geophysical methods. Specific exploration targets for Geothermal, Petroleum, Mining or Nuclear Storage industries define unique processing workflow for every acquired seismic dataset. Project complexity, time and budget constrains require accurate selection of service provider and processing parameters for each individual processing project. The projects can have a duration of few days to several months, depending on complexity. Ad Terra offers planning and supervision for 2D, 3D and seismic processing as well as individual processing tests for specific investigations. Teams of geophysicists, geologists and petrophysicists work in synergy to achieve the best seismic image quality. Current projects include:

Seismic processing, project management:

  • Planning of target specific processing workflows and provision of detailed scope of work considering cost efficiency
  • Tender support and contractor selection
  • Technical QC on all stages of the processing and regular data quality reviews with progress reporting to the client

Seismic processing, specific studies:

  • Velocity model building with support of a priory geological data
  • Time-depth and depth-time conversion
  • Demigration/Remigration
  • Rock Property Inversion and Quantitative Interpretation (QI) to improve reservoir understanding

SVSP processing:

  • Rig source VSP processing from field data
  • Sonic log calibration
  • Velocity analysis along the well trajectory
  • Conventional processing with generation of P-wave Synthetic Seismograms and Corridor Stacks
  • Time-depth conversion
  • Seismic-to-well tie in time and depth
  • Detailed processing report with text description, enclosures and high-resolution figures
  • PP/PS processing, forward modelling, multiple analysis
  • Full workflow using VSProwess software

Seismic database management

  • Data load, import and export
  • Integration of seismic, well, interpretation, and GIS data
  • Synchronisation between various software projects – Kingdom, Petrel, Petrosys etc.
